Here we go, ringing in our 3rd week of Stewards in good spirits and with beautiful autumn weather. I wanted it spend a little bit of time going over my reflections from last week, and getting us set up for this Thursday.
Last week we loaded up cars and headed out to Commonweal garden for an apple harvest, games, and apple sauce making. All stewards made it home with a jar of apple sauce from the apples they picked, (which was really delicious and I hope you enjoyed!!), and all of us adults left with big smiles on our faces. Some highlights were watching the kids climb trees, and haul full wheelbarrows full of apples over to the kitchen; hearing laughter as kids ran around playing games with Will in between batches of applesauce; impromptu knot tying lessons; and hearing what the Mentors and Young Stewards said their favorite memory of the day was at the end of the session.
This coming week we will be meeting with local expert tracker and author of “The Heart of Tracking” Richard Vacha. Richard came out for a session last Spring, and loved our kids and had a strong desire to return and work with us again.
