Program Lead Coordinator – Melinda Stone
Melinda is currently USF Associate Professor for the Environmental Studies program. Her collaboration of USF Mentors with youth and our community has made the launch of this program possible.
Program Director – Megan Campbell
Meg joins Stewards with over a decade of working with young people both in wilderness and conventional settings. She facilitates meaningful, fun, and powerful experiences for kids in a way that fosters non-violent communication and strengths-based learning. Meg has worked in Wilderness Therapy, guided backpacking, river, and sea kayaking trips with youth in Alaska, the San Juan Islands, Utah, Colorado, Montana, Florida and the Bahamas. She emphasizes connection to the natural world when working with youth so that they can tap into the places they live, visit, and spend time as resource for a healthy and well-rounded way of living.
She now lives in Bolinas, surfs as much as possible, and works hard to devote time and energy to the community.
Program Facilitator – Will Hubert
Will facilitates empowering outdoor experiences for youth groups, schools, and families. His approach is informed by over 12 years of experience as a wilderness guide and youth mentor. Will is currently a graduate student at San Francisco State University where he is studying “trauma-informed care” in outdoor leadership. Will values collaborative environments that foster positive relationships between youth and adults. On group outings, Will believes the “expedition process” is the greatest teacher. He emphasizes creativity, playfulness, teamwork, autonomy, and curiosity when working with students. Will strives to role-model and teach healthy, non-violent communication skills in all professional contexts.
Will loves spending time with family and friends. Some of his favorite hobbies include playing the mandolin, skateboarding, and learning spanish. He lives in Point Reyes Station, California.
Assisting Facilitator – Ian McLaird
Ian is a Bolinas Local, Surf instructor, BO-Stin Summer Camp Counselor and a Jack of many trades. He was a great facilitator of games in our Fall 2018 / Spring 2019 program and was helpful in supporting our pilot year of the program. He will be assisting as needed.
